About Me

Hello everyone! My name is Hisham Kayal, and I am from Saudi Arabia. I am a new student in the DSAN program, and this is my first time here in DC. I hope to have an exciting and a successful journey in the program along with my classmates. For my undergrad, I have a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from King Abdulaziz University located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I really hope to learn new technical/non-technical skills during the period of my graduate study. I would truly like to improve my communication and networking skills, specifically, and use them effectively in my academic and professional career. I am new to the data science field, and I only had some little background knowledge about it before joining the program. In the DSAN program, I hope I can become more powerful and efficient when it comes to dealing with data in general. Forming strong data visualizations, becoming expert in Python and R, and having good knowledge of machine learning algorithms are all among my list for what I hope to learn in the DSAN program. My ideal job would be to work as a data scientist for one of the big tech companies. I think it would be a good experience for me to have, and a great way to start my career. I am very interested in soccer and a big fan of the game. The interesting part is that data plays a huge role in soccer nowadays. Data analytics became very important in this field, and they use it frequently to monitor player performances. I hope that I can apply what I learn in this program, in the field that I am most passionate about one day. I also like video games, especially online ones. I've been playing video games since I was a kid. In my free time, I usually either play video games or watch soccer games.
